Community Involvement
Beta Chi participates in a variety of projects that support the children in our communities and their families.
Each year we volunteer at the Southern Tier Food Bank to help with their Backpack Program. We have also collaborated with the Gamma Zeta with the Salvation Army Backpack Program. In 2020-2021 we targeted and supported a wider variety of organizations in our community, as seen in the pictures below.
Beta Chi sponsors Grants-in-Aid for Community Organizations and Scholarships that assist both future teachers and our members who are still actively teaching, as well as women returning to complete a education degree after an interruption in their studies. CTAUN Scholarships are available to members who are first time attendees of CTAUN. See our Scholarship page for more details and applications.
The members of Beta Chi work hard to provide support where there is a need within our community. This sometimes includes monetary donations as well as service projects like wrapping presents for the American Cancer Society or donating books to the Red Book Shelf. Many of our members serve on Boards of local organizations as well as volunteer individually throughout our community for organizations such as Meals on Wheels, The Heritage Museum, Corning Museum of Glass, The Rockwell Museum, The Dormann Library, The Southeast Steuben County Library, Heart-to-Heart, CareFirst, Rolling Readers, and our local Food Pantries, to name just a few.
